ROAM THE STREETS VOL. 2
FUCK YOU WE'RE FROM AARHUS
Fuck You We’re From Aarhus presented eight of Aarhus’ finest, most promising and perspective metal acts. Curated by musician and producer Jacob Bredahl the limited edition vinyl and two day mini festival showcased the following bands: Blood Label, Gespenst, Mordtor, Møl, Road To Manila, Savage Machine, Tongues and Woebegone Obscured. Every band contributed with a new recording and a great concert.
BLOOD LABEL
Blood Label has via countless shows over the years gained a reputation as an extremely intense live band, and with their genre bending approach to metal, they’ve manifested their place as one of the biggest talents on the underground metal scene in Denmark. Fusing the immense energy of extreme metal with the more melodic qualities of rock, they deliver powerful metallic anthems packed with intense, hook-ridden vocals, catchy riffing and machinegun drumming..
MØL
Møl was formed in 2013 by two dark men, who wanted to make a path for themselves, after they’d been wandering around in existence. After a short time other dark men came onboard. Many intense, harrowing days in the practice chamber later - buried in concrete - Møl’s first EP was conceived in a sphere of hunger for living souls. In the summer of 2014 the group let go of their offspring, who has since hovered and spread a screaming light over the black abyss.
SAVAGE MACHINE
With live performances alongside Artillery and DragonForce, it’s easy to see where Savage Machine draws their inspiration. The band revives the old school heavy metal and carry on the torch of the metal kings. The band’s five musicians, who are all significant players in the metal underground, are ready to peep up to the surface and conquer the world. Pounding basslines, galloping guitars, thundering drums and screaming vocals. This is true heavy metal at its best.
TONGUES
The black/death/doom band Tongues was formed in 2012 by Thorbjørn and Qvortrup, who in the autumn of 2014 released their debut EP “Thelésis Ignis” on the Italian label I, Voidhanger Records. Tongues’ sound is characterized by grim and ominous soundscapes that range from dark and meditative rhythms to dissonant melodies and sudden brutal outbreaks, all of which are tied together by a constant apocalyptic, mysterious and dark aura.
WOEBEGONE OBSCURED
Arising from the ashes of Danny Woe’s 10 year old black metal project Rimfrost Woebegone Obscured reincarnated in 2003. The new foundation and reason to exist was built upon funeral doom, but this time around it was important to the band’s members to follow a completely uncompromising expression without restrictions of any kind. Woebegone Obscured is all about painting dark atmospheric soundscapes of the nature in the mind of the listener.
ROAD TO MANILA
Road To Manila, originally from Fredericia, is one of the leading melodic hardcore bands in Denmark. The music is influenced by inspirations from a lot of different genres and hereby mixes the energetic style of hardcore music with very melodic and atmospheric melodies. The band has experienced rapid growth over the last few years, especially outside the Danish borders, where they’ve played most of their concerts doing several tours of Europe and Russia.
GESPENST
Gespenst has the early 90’s black metal as their starting point and shrouds the genre in an obscure haze of atmospheric passages whose shuffling steps carries the mind into the emptiness and the echoes of the dead. Formed back in 2008 as a one-man band the 2016 edition of Gespenst consists of members from bands like Woebegone Obscured, Glorior Belli (live), Dwell and ex-Horned Almighty. The band’s first LP, “Forfald”, will be released in the coming months.
MORDTOR
Mordtor is made up of members who have worked with prominent other bands such as Illdisposed, Barcode and Hell’s Domain - the line-up consists of Lasse Gee (guitar), Mortor Rahm (drums) Knud T. (vocals) and Lars Knudsen (bass). The band mixes together elements from thrash metal, death metal and hardcore in a brutal and at the same time melodic new expression. With a blink of the eye Mordtor plays a great mix of German speed metal and British scream metal.
